students perform at Walt Disney World Resort View/Post Comments Two Rahway High School music ensembles became stars of their own Disney show on May 29 and 30, when they entertained guests in Downtown Disney and Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort. They traveled more than 1,100 miles from Rahway, to take part in Disney Performing Arts. On May 29, the Performing Arts Company, under the direction of Robert Van Wyk and Alison Dooley, entertained guests with a musical performance at the Waterside Stage in Downtown Disney. This was the show choirs fifth visit to the resort with Disney Performing Arts, having first performed in 2005 at Magic Kingdom Park. The marching band, led by Van Wyk, greeted the guests of the Magic Kingdom on May 30 as they marched past Cinderella Castle on their way down Main Street, U.S.A. Their performance included a special rendition of Lee Greenwoods God Bless the U.S.A. The students helped to get the crowd excited before Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, giving them an inside look at what it is like to be a professional in the entertainment industry. This was the marching bands fifth performance at the resort since their 2007 march at Magic Kingdom Park. Vocal, instrumental and dance ensembles from around the world apply to perform each year as a part of Disney Performing Arts at both the Disneyland Resort in California and the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Once selected, they are given the opportunity to perform at the resort for an international audience of theme park guests.
